I’m Lygeia Ricciardi. Lygeia means “clear voiced” in ancient Greek. No, I’m not Greek, and not too ancient (yet), but I’ve spent almost 15 years working to make the world a better place through information and communications technologies like the Internet. I passionately believe that technology can improve the quality of people’s lives—if we apply it thoughtfully.

Before starting Clear Voice Consulting I spent six years at the Markle Foundation. As a Director in the Health Program I helped to develop Markle’s Common Framework resources for private and secure health information exchange. Previously:

• At the Federal Communications Commission I helped to hammer out policies to support remote healthcare in rural areas, and wrote speeches for Chairman Reed Hundt.
• For Harvard Business School I authored case studies on how technology is transforming the communications industries and the polices that apply to them.
• At a dot com called MaMaMedia I designed interactive online experiences to help kids (and the adults who care about them) learn.

One of the most fun things about my work is that I am always learning. My formal education is through Wellesley College (I graduated Phi Beta Kappa with degrees in History and Italian Language), Harvard (I earned a Masters in Technology in Education) and the MIT Media Lab, where I studied with Seymour Papert, a visionary who understood in the 1960s that computers—which were then the size of a small room—could be used by and for the direct benefit of everyday people, not just large enterprises. I’ve also lived in Italy and Eritrea (East Africa). I am currently based in Washington, DC.

When you work with Clear Voice Consulting, you are primarily working directly with me, but I also pull in highly regarded and skilled experts to meet your specific needs. For larger scale projects, I work with Clinovations, another consulting practice for which I'm part of the Leadership Team.
